Dark of the Moon at The Arches, London is a supernatural musical about witchcraft, small-town prejudice and love. It brings together a rural Appalachian town and the mystical world of witches and warlocks from the Smoky Mountains, with Barbara Allen, a human girl, and John, a witch-boy, at the centre of the story.
The show’s score reflects those two worlds through a blend of country/bluegrass and rock. As Barbara Allen and John try to build a life together, the story asks whether love can overcome the communities around them and a deal made by the dark of the moon.
