Dark of the Moon at The Arches, London is a supernatural musical about witchcraft, small-town prejudice and love. It follows Barbara Allen, a human girl, and John, a curious witch-boy, as they try to build a life together in a story shaped by two opposing worlds: a rural Appalachian town and the mystical world of the Smoky Mountains.
The production’s score reflects that contrast with a mix of country/bluegrass and rock. The story centres on a relationship tested by community pressure, superstition and a deal made by the dark of the moon.
