A Mirrored Monet at The Arches, London is a dramatic new musical by composer, lyricist and dramatist Carmel Owen. Set in Paris in 1916, it follows Claude Monet as he struggles to complete The Water Lilies, the commission that will define his legacy and on which his survival depends.
As the First World War closes in, Monet reflects on his early artist days, his relationship with his muse, Camille Doncieux, and his friendships with fellow artists Renoir and Bazille. The production is inspired by letters and diaries from Monet and his peers.
Music and projections are used to bring cafés, studios and salons of Belle Époque Paris to life. The cast includes Jeff Shankley as Monet and Dean John-Wilson as Young Monet.
