About High Society

High Society at the Barbican Centre is Cole Porter’s musical about a society wedding that begins to unravel when old flames, new flames and a sharp-eyed tabloid reporter arrive at a waterfront estate. Helen George stars as Tracy Lord, with Felicity Kendal also appearing, and the score includes Just One Of Those Things, Let’s Misbehave, I Love Paris, Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?, Well, Did You Evah and True Love.

Presented as a new production with a 28-strong cast, a full-size orchestra and a multi award-winning creative team including Rachel Kavanaugh and choreographer Anthony Van Laast, it brings Cole Porter’s Golden Age musical theatre to the Barbican in a clear, story-led staging.

Key facts: Running time approximately 2 hours 30 minutes, including a 20-minute interval.

Helen George is not scheduled to perform on Wed 1st and Fri 3rd July, when her role will be played by an understudy. Felicity Kendal is not scheduled to perform the matinee on Thu 9 Jul. Julian Ovenden is not scheduled to perform on Sat 20 Jun, for either the matinee or evening performance.
