High Society at the Barbican Centre is Cole Porter’s musical comedy about a society wedding that unravels when old flames, new romances and a sharp-eyed tabloid reporter all arrive at a waterfront estate. This summer production brings the story to the Barbican in a new staging with a full-size orchestra.
Helen George stars as socialite Tracy Lord and Felicity Kendal also appears in the cast. The score includes well-known Cole Porter songs such as Just One Of Those Things, Let’s Misbehave, I Love Paris, Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?, Well, Did You Evah and True Love.
Brought together by a multi award-winning creative team including Rachel Kavanaugh and choreographer Anthony Van Laast, the production features a 28-strong cast and presents Cole Porter’s Golden Age musical theatre in a lavish new version.
Duration: Approximately 2 hours 30 minutes, including a 20-minute interval.
Age guidance: Suitable for children is to be confirmed. Cast note: On Wed 1st and Fri 3rd July, Helen George will not appear and her role will be played by an understudy. Ticket policy: No refunds or exchanges after purchase.
