My Son’s A Queer (But What Can You Do?) is a stage show by West End Musical Theatre star and social-media sensation Rob Madge. It tells the autobiographical story of a childhood attempt to stage a full Disney parade at home for their Grandma, with Rob playing characters including Mary Poppins, Ariel, Mickey Mouse and Belle.
The piece follows the parade as it goes wrong in all the practical ways a family show can: Dad takes on multiple behind-the-scenes jobs, Mum mistakes Aladdin for Ursula, and the costumes do not quite work out as planned. Grandma, however, had a nice time.
The show is presented as Rob Madge’s recreation of that childhood parade, with the aim of putting it on properly this time. It was awarded Best Off-West End Production 2022 by WhatsOnStage.
Running time: 1 hour 5 minutes.
Shaftesbury Ave, Soho, London W1D 7EZ.
