About

About My Son’s A Queer (But What Can You Do?)

My Son’s A Queer (But What Can You Do?) is an autobiographical show by West End musical theatre star Rob Madge. It is built around the childhood attempt to stage a full Disney parade at home for Rob’s grandma.

In that parade, Rob played Mary Poppins, Ariel, Mickey Mouse and Belle while Dad took on backstage roles including Stage Manager, Sound Technician and Goofy. The floats went the wrong way, the costumes went awry, and Mum mistook Aladdin for Ursula.

The show revisits that memory and recreates the parade again, turning it into a personal theatre piece shaped by family, performance and a very ambitious home production. It was awarded Best Off-West End Production 2022 by WhatsOnStage.

Running time: 1 hour 5 minutes.
