Shadowlands at the Aldwych Theatre, London, tells the true story of C.S. Lewis, whose orderly life as an Oxford Don is changed by the arrival of the American poet Joy Davidman. What begins as a meeting of minds develops into a love story shaped by the fragile beauty of life.
Written by William Nicholson and adapted from his own BAFTA Award-winning TV Movie, the play became a West End success, winning the Evening Standard Award for Best Play before transferring to Broadway and winning a Tony Award. It was also adapted into a 1993 feature film directed by Richard Attenborough, starring Anthony Hopkins and Debra Winger, which won the BAFTA Award for Outstanding British Film.
The production is a strictly limited engagement at London’s Aldwych Theatre, with BAFTA, Primetime Emmy and Golden Globe Award-nominated actor Hugh Bonneville starring as C.S. Lewis.
Times: Evening performances are at 7.30pm and matinees are at 2.30pm.
