The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind at sohoplace is a new musical based on the true story of William Kamkwamba. Set on a farm facing drought, it follows William as he tries to build a windmill with library books and scraps of old machinery, even though his father and friends do not believe he can do it.
This world premiere is based on William Kamkwamba’s memoir and Chiwetel Ejiofor’s film. It is directed by Lynette Linton, formerly Artistic Director of the Bush Theatre, with book and lyrics by Richy Hughes and music and lyrics by Tim Sutton.
The show runs from 26 April to 18 July.
