The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind is playing at Soho Place. This world premiere is a new musical telling the true story of William Kamkwamba, a boy who wants to build a windmill when nobody believes he can. As drought closes in on his family’s farm and village, the story follows his attempt to create power from library books, old machinery and his own determination.
Based on William Kamkwamba’s memoir and Chiwetel Ejiofor’s film, the production is directed by Lynette Linton, formerly Artistic Director of the Bush Theatre. The book and lyrics are by Richy Hughes, with music and lyrics by Tim Sutton.
The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind runs from 26th April to 18th July.
Age recommendation: 9+. Please note that the production contains loud music and flashing lights, and includes themes of violence and death.
The performance on 20th June at 2.30pm will no longer be an integrated BSL performance; it will be a regular BSL performance. No refunds or exchanges are available after purchase.
