The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind is playing at Soho Place. This new musical tells the true story of William Kamkwamba, a boy who wants to build a windmill and give hope to his family and village as drought closes in on their farm.
Based on William Kamkwamba’s memoir and Chiwetel Ejiofor’s film, this world premiere is directed by Lynette Linton, with book and lyrics by Richy Hughes and music and lyrics by Tim Sutton. The story follows William as he works with library books and scraps of old machinery when others doubt he can succeed.
The production is described as bold and uplifting, with a focus on a real-life story of invention, resilience and hope.
Dates: 26th April - 18th July. Age recommendation: 9+.
This production contains loud music and flashing lights, and includes themes of violence and death. It is recommended for ages 9 and above.
