The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind at Soho Place is a bold and uplifting new musical telling the true story of William Kamkwamba. William wants to build a windmill, but those around him do not believe he can, while drought threatens his family’s farm and the village he loves. With only library books and scraps of old machinery, he has to find a way to turn an idea into something real.
This world premiere is based on William Kamkwamba’s memoir and Chiwetel Ejiofor’s film. It is directed by Lynette Linton, formerly Artistic Director of the Bush Theatre, with book and lyrics by Richy Hughes and music and lyrics by Tim Sutton.
Key facts: Runs from 26th April to 18th July. Age recommendation: 9+.
This production is recommended for ages 9 and over. It contains loud music and flashing lights, and includes themes of violence and death.
