The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind at Soho Place is a new musical based on the true story of William Kamkwamba. It follows a boy who wants to build a windmill, despite the doubts of his father and friends.
As drought threatens his family’s farm and the village he loves, William has only library books and scraps of old machinery to work with. The story traces his attempt to create power and bring hope to tomorrow.
This production is a world premiere, based on William Kamkwamba’s memoir and Chiwetel Ejiofor’s film. It is directed by Lynette Linton, with book and lyrics by Richy Hughes and music and lyrics by Tim Sutton.
