The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind is a new musical at sohoplace, based on the true story of William Kamkwamba. It follows a boy who wants to build a windmill and bring power to his family’s farm and the village he loves, even as drought closes in and the people around him doubt he can succeed.
This world premiere is based on William Kamkwamba’s memoir and Chiwetel Ejiofor’s film. It is directed by Lynette Linton, with book and lyrics by Richy Hughes and music and lyrics by Tim Sutton.
Key facts: World premiere. Runs 26th April - 18th July. Age recommendation: 9+.
