Londoner Nabil already had an established career in comedy before appearing as a finalist on Britain’s Got Talent in 2020, welcoming him into homes across the country for his story-led comedy and no-nonsense take downs around racism, identity and being Nabil.
Nabil’s stand-up, incorporating multiple languages alongside incisive, humorous and razor-sharp commentary on global politics and multiculturalism, has secured him an international following. Expect an exploration of empathy, morality and political contradiction all wrapped up in storytelling and deeply funny pay-offs.
The Purple Pill is about morals and hypocrisy in the personal and external political sphere - consider how being a man, a parent, being Black, does not mean one thing. Expect thoughts on reconciling the realities of your own childhood as you raise your kids; how to parent Black daughters in a sexist and racist country; how ‘the political’ is unavoidably personal for everyone. We live in a divided society - but not a binary one. Nabil isn’t taking the ‘middle ground’, but he won’t blindly follow one side either. Anything and everything will get an airing. As Nabil has been often quoted - he’s going to say it as he sees it, and if we’re honest, that is never going to be one simple idea.
