About

One of Scotland’s most celebrated trad bands, Mànran will take to the stage at Portree Community Centre on Monday 1 January, delighting Skye audiences with their lively and infectious sets, and kicking off 2024 in style.

The seven-piece will play in Portree hot off the release of their latest stunning single Wild Mountain Thyme, which is set to raise money for charities supporting the homeless in Scotland this Christmas time.

Mànran have had an incredibly busy year in 2023, travelling across Europe for festivals and gigs, as well as headlining events closer to home, such as Moray’s Speyfest and Warwick Folk Festival, and they show no sign of slowing down.

As well as playing Portree, the award-winning musical powerhouse will be playing at Strathpeffer and Kingussie this December, and will also return to Glasgow for the second, mighty Hoolie in the Hydro, organised by Mànran’s very own Gary Innes, and Dundee Caird Hall for the glittering MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards.

Gary Innes of Mànran said: “We’ve had a busy year, performing all over and bringing our music to new stages and faces. It has been amazing, but we are so excited to be back playing in Scotland again – a Scottish crowd is definitely hard to beat! We’re ready to kick off 2024 with a bang, and can’t wait to see the lovely people of Portree for a big old party very soon.”

The renowned group has been at the heart of the Scottish traditional music scene for over a decade. Internationally recognised as one of the most iconic and respected Scottish bands on the road today, they continue to push boundaries and explore new musical and geographical territory, bringing their uplifting and unique live performances to stages across the world.

With four critically acclaimed albums under their belt, the multifaceted supergroup has amassed a loyal fanbase worldwide for their self-penned tunes performed on a mixture of traditional and modern instruments, alongside their outstanding songs in both Gaelic and English.
