About

Greenpeace Glasgow is thrilled to announce its exciting fundraiser at Room 2 on Saturday 23rd March. Come for a night packed with stunningly talented artists and even a wee raffle.

Join Project Climate Vote. A general election is coming soon, and it’s our best shot at getting strong climate action. Greenpeace is uniting people in the UK to push the next government – whoever it is – to take climate change seriously. You can pledge here (https://www.greenpeace.org.uk/take-action/project-climate-vote) or sign up in person on the night.

Doors are at 7pm and we’ll be starting the night off with solo act Louis Rive, playing folk music in the storytelling tradition.

Followed by the very talented Atlas Works, a Glasgow-based Hip-Hop Collective that brings self-produced highly energetic performances from multiple artists. Including Glesgadelic: with his innovative lyrics, mixing religious satire and nostalgic Scottish tales, Miles Better: both a hip hop artist and very gifted singer and Somnia: somewhat gothic, somewhat psychedelic and definitely a performance artist in all she does never ceases to amaze. You’ll likely know this crew from their wildly popular monthly events in the heart of Glasgow.

This glorious group will be followed by Motopia: a fresh and powerful dynamic, Motopia, have been encouraging self-expression and exploring social consciousness since getting together in 2022. They made their way around the UK festival circuit after the success of their first headline show and went on to collaborate with ‘She Drew The Gun’ throughout the summer. The frontwoman, Mo, has been described as someone who has the energy of a “punked up Kate Bush” delivering expressive and highly energetic performances. Motopia aims to create an open space to let go of societal expectations - empowering you to step outside the limitations of your mind and feel alive!

Finally topping the night off with our incredible headlining act Maz & The Phantasms, whose lead singer is no stranger to supporting Greenpeace. Maz & The Phantasms are a Glasgow psychedelic 6-piece band formed by Catalan-Egyptian musician Mariam El Sadr (Maz) and have taken the Scottish music scene by storm. Oscillating between surf guitars, Krautrock noise, queer dance music and Latin influences, their cross-cultural and high-energy live shows have captivated audiences and carved the band a promising future. Certainly, a band we’ll look back on and be glad we saw whilst we could still afford their tickets. The band burst onto the Scottish live circuit in February 2022, supporting touring bands, performing tirelessly in clubs and self-organising warehouse parties (‘Phantasmagasm’). Their dedication quickly earned industry recognition and a committed fan base in both Glasgow and Edinburgh. With just 3 single releases, the band has sold out headline shows in music capitals across the UK. Their recent return from a highly regarded 16-stop UK and EU tour and a summer of festival showcases has solidified their reputation as a must-see powerhouse live act. MATP has received support from local Scottish radio and media outlets such as Scotland on a Sunday (The Scotsman), The Skinny and Snack Magazine. Their latest single was selected ‘Single of the Week’ by BBC Radio Scotland. Following their recent tour in Germany, their performance in Kusel has been praised in a feature article in the German newspaper Die Rheinpfalz. Their music has also made waves on Italian Radio Kaos, further solidifying their international reach. With an EP, an album, and a series of upcoming releases scheduled for 2024, MATP are gearing up to make an even more substantial impact in the music scene.

All funds from this fundraiser will go towards the Greenpeace legal fight against the hideously immoral company from hell: Shell, who alongside causing 1,377 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent, all before 2020 are now suing Greenpeace for £1.7 million but it could reach £7 million.

Come and support an essential cause, listen to amazing music, whilst being surrounded by many ingenious creatives and likeminded souls with a desire to affect positive change in the world.

GREENPEACE: FOR PEOPLE AND PLANET.
