Spectrum has scored a first for Scotland - this Easter the world-renowned Secret DJ is making his Scottish debut.
The Secret DJ is the anonymous alter ego of a legendary figure on the global dance music scene.
With an impressive forty year career behind him, The Secret DJ got his first industry break in 1988, via a noted stadium dance act. He was then recruited to DJ with their collective and went on to global success, supporting U2 on stadium tours and was the first act to use turntables on Top of the Pops.
SDJ co-founded the Kiss FM radio network outside of London in the late 90s. If that wasn't enough, at the same time SDJ formed a KLF-style group that was signed by a DJ megastar, scoring a chart-topping dance anthem.
He has held DJ residencies everywhere from Cream, Home, Manumission Ibiza, Ministry of Sound, Space Ibiza, Turnmills, The Key and Matter, and remains one of the most frequently booked guests at both Back to Basics and Mr. C’s infamous Superfreq parties.
SJD is a music journalist and best selling author, having written extensively for dance music bibles Jockey Slut, DJ Magazine and Mixmag.
In 2018 SDJ created the Secret DJ identity together with Mixmag editor Duncan Dick - originally as a series of advice pieces for young musicians, DJs and producers. The subsequent book published by Faber and Faber went on to become the fastest selling and most successful electronic music publication of all time and remains in the top 10 of the relevant Amazon categories to this day. The second book was equally well-received and the third was completed and released in Feb 2022.
The Secret DJ's Dark Room shows have become legendary, along with their concept to ban mobile phones.
Expect the unexpected from one of the most innovative and respected figures on the international music scene.
