About

A night of upbeat african inspired music from 3 unsigned acts playing music ranging Senegalese to South African and a variety of genres including a healthy dose of Funk.

A Rare one off Edinburgh outing for the fantastic Asazi Space Funk Explosion, one of Edinburghs longest running and exciting live bands who rarely play after being based back in South Africa now. Joining them is The Earth Before a funky and soulful local band from Rue Cooper also of Groove Down. The talented Trio of Sylvan, Ed And Ramsis complete the lineup with some Senegalese fusion.

Asazi Space Funk Explosion fuse Afro-funk, dub, and cosmic grooves into an electrifying live experience.
Formed in a darkened Camden basement in 2003 by South African vocalist/percussionist Kholeho "Asazi" Mosala and UK multi-instrumentalist Alex Marten, the band earned an early cult following for their fearless, high-energy sound.
After moving to Edinburgh in 2006, they became a fixture of the city's underground scene, lighting up venues and festivals including Knockengorroch, Eden Festival and the Kelburn Garden Party.
Today, the band enters a new era: alongside Asazi's treacle-rich vocals stands his son Camlo, the rapper OnlyOneOnlySon, bringing sharp lyricism and generational fire. With Paul Dennington on drums and Ruairidh Morrison on bass, the rhythm section drives the group into deeper, heavier, more explosive territory.
Part ritual, part rave, part interstellar funk odyssey, Asazi Space Funk Explosion promise music to move bodies and lift spirits.
