Review of Ibiza Proms in Chester Cathedral

Having been to this even in 2024 and 2025 and totally enjoyed it we were expecting the same. Set list this year was a complete let down and the sound for the first half of the concert was very poor. No qualms with the orchestra itself or the singing they can only perform what they are given. Met loads of other people complaining that they couldn't hear the singers and that the set was far from Ibiza classics. Doubt we will book again next year. Overall very disappointing.

£8 for a 250ml can of average white wine, £9 for a 250ml can of pre-mixed spirit, £6.50 a can of Thatchers Gold really is a bit naughty. You expect to pay a little over the odds but even then, I was surprised. Saw 2 people querying that they'd got the prices wrong with staff, only to be shown the price list and realise it was right! As close to rip-off as you can get drinks-price wise.

Music was OK, the orchestra were magnificent, just not really my type of play list. Been to similar events like Save the Rave where every other song is a nostalgic banger - I felt there we only a couple of these played at most.

But the Cathedral is magnificent as a venue for such an event. Loved the atmosphere it created, and decent laser work. Overall, had a great time, even if my bank balance didn't!

Not as advertised no special guests expensive for what it was

There were some technical sound issues and the music selection didn't quite match what I would consider "classic" Ibiza. These are understandable issues that could likely be improved for future events.
However, the behaviour of some event staff was very disappointing and has put me off booking with this organisation again. A dispute broke out near the front of the crowd involving people who were unwilling to move with the natural flow of the audience. Only one group involved was asked to leave, which felt unfair at the time. We later learned that the other individuals were connected to the event team, which raised concerns about bias.
Staff appearing to prioritise their own viewing spots and using their authority inconsistently created an uncomfortable atmosphere and ultimately spoiled the evening. As a paying customer, this left me with a negative impression of the organisation overall

First time going to anything like this. I loved it. Orchestra was amazing. Would definetly go again 😊
