

Cardiff University Students performing
On Friday April 24th at 7pm Cardiff University School Music will present a showcase by the University "Collegium" conducted by award winning conductor Dr Peter Leech. The programme of music from 17th and 18th Centuries features choir, orchestra and keyboard. The repertoire will include an eighteenth-century overture to the opera La Sofonisba by Maria Teresa Agnesi and a motet O quam dulce for voices, soloists and strings by the seventeenth century nun composer Maria Xaveria Peruchona. Also featured will be a showcase of concertos, with one for harpsichord by John Stanley, Leonardo Leo's Sinfonia concertante for solo cello and orchestra, and a concerto for two flutes and strings by Graupner. There will also be beautiful and evocative sacred choral works by Carlotta Ferrari, and part-songs by Frank Bridge and David Dubery, topped off by solo piano music by Melanie Bonis performed by Ana Beatriz Ferreira. There will be several first Welsh modern performances amongst this repertory. Tickets are £10 on the door, Students Free.
