About

The latest offering from Philophon Records, and the next chapter in an impressive legacy from this seminal record label. Florence Adooni combines the meandering melodies of the Frafra gospel over the high-life rhythm of the Ashanti with incredible ease.

Revered as the queen of Frafra Gospel and surrounded by the city's best young high-life musicians. Florence combines the soul of the northern savannah and the sound of the rainforest region, fusing the best of both cultures to form her unique sound. Her debut single "Mam Pe'ela Su'ure" on Philophon Records has generated great acclaim both in Ghana and around the world. Her music emanates soul, charm, and talent.

Florence and Philophon share a long history. Being part of Guy One's group she is the voice on his radio hit "Estre", as a member of Alogte Oho's Sounds of Joy and can be heard on his hit single "Mam Yinne Wa" and was chosen by Jimi Tenor to sing on his instant club classic "Vocalize My Luv". She has also released a series of locally successful underground albums.

If you caught Alogte Oho & His Sounds of Joy (also part of Philophon records family) at The Jam Jar or for one of their amazing festival shows last year, you’ll know the power and joy of this music.

Join us throughout 2024 as we showcase Ghanaian music. From project start to completion, we are working with an amazing selection of artists, producers, and professional partners in the global music network. This project allows us to build a framework of partnerships between artists, cultural organisations, and communities in the UK and Ghana. By working closely with our partners from conception to completion, we’re able to develop a sustainable model, the benefits of which will far surpass the duration of the project.
