About

A new series of events launched by the team at Digbeth Dining Club, "Second City's Finest”, will celebrate some of the biggest and best names to come out of the city, names who have helped put Birmingham on the map.
Styled as “An Evening With…”, the events will be set in the casual and fun environment of Hockley Social Club.
In the 5th edition of the event, we welcome the British collage artist and satirist: Cold War Steve.
Cold War Steveaka Christopher Spencer is an artist from Birmingham, England who has made surreal, satirical and hilarious photomontage since 2016.
Multiple exhibitions, books, commissions for the National Galleries of Scotland, Whitworth in Manchester, Birmingham Museum and Gallery, giant billboard installations at Glastonbury Festival and a TIME magazine cover have all followed.
In 2020 his first jigsaw Hellscape was shortlisted for the Design Museum’s Design of the Year Award and his book A Prat’s Progress nominated for the The Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize. A feature length documentary - Cold War Steve Meets The Outside World - about his work, was made with Bafta winning director Kieran Evans. The film was released in October 2020 on Sky Arts and the featured outdoor exhibition of the same name was nominated for a South Bank Award in 2021.
Cold War Steve’s artwork has been a lifeline to many in these dark times.

Proceeds from the evening will go to a local Birmingham based charity.

The evening will be hosted by journalist and editor of I Choose Birmingham Tom Cullen.
