About

The Virgin Suicides (1999) | The Virgin Suicides is the first feature-length film from Sofia Coppola (Lost in Translation, Marie Antoinette) based on the book of the same name, starring Kirsten Dunst and Josh Hartnett.
The romantic-thriller looks back on the year 1975, when a group of boys become involved with the five Lisbon sisters, unattainable due to their overprotective Catholic parents. The sisters struggle to experience a normal teenage life, rebelling against their family and becoming increasingly more depressed and isolated as a result.
Since premiering at Cannes Film Festival the film has established a cult status praised for its depiction of adolescent angst, haunting and dreamy aesthetic and a legendary soundtrack from french electronic duo Air.
