Swedish House Mafia have returned with their first single of 2026, joining forces with fellow Swedish artist Lykke Li for ‘Happiness Is So Sad’.

Released via DANSA, the new track sees Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso combine melancholic piano chords and atmospheric electronic production with Lykke Li's unmistakable vocals. Producers Max Martin and Oscar Holter also contributed to the release.

Fans were given their first taste of ‘Happiness Is So Sad’ during Swedish House Mafia's Ushuaïa Ibiza residency last month. The track later made another appearance at Tomorrowland, where Ingrosso was joined by Angello during his Mainstage set.

The single follows last summer's ‘Wait So Long’ and marks the trio's latest release since their second studio album, Paradise Again, arrived in 2022. That record featured collaborations with The Weeknd, Sting and A$AP Rocky.

It's already been a busy year for Swedish House Mafia. The trio took over Ultra Miami's Main Stage earlier in 2026, joined by artists including Afrojack, Boys Noize and Kelly Lee Owens, whilst also reuniting on stage with fellow Swedish electronic music heavyweight Eric Prydz.
