Biography

Audrey are an original rock and roll band from Hull. Formed three years ago when drummer Tom Small met singer songwriter Josh Darby, the band have been creating their own brand of rock and roll ever since. Filling their sound out with Ben Stephenson on bass and Ben Farr on lead guitar, the band hunkered down to hone their own original sound. Drawing inspiration from a wide mix of influences, from The Rolling Stones and Tom Petty to Oasis and the Foo Fighters, their sound offers a nod to a simple, rootsy rock and roll sound of a time gone by, while also injecting it with a fresh burst of energy and influence from the 21st Century.

Delivering an engaging set full of mesmeric energy and infectious originals with massive choruses, Audrey made a name for themselves on the Hull scene, playing at Freedom Festival, and supporting 90s Britpoppers Space at FrÃ?it, before heading west, to Leeds, to record their debut EP at LOOM Studios.

This four track EP of “nostalgia inducing”, “catchy rock and roll” songs was a statement shouted from the rooftops of who this band where and what they had come to do, with that same energy from their live performances captured perfectly by producer Grant Henderson (Sony Records, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds).

Following a loud, sweaty, sold out launch night in October, and a positive critical reception (DecadeMag predicting the band as “set to become a festival powerhouse act”), Audrey moved further afield, playing shows in Sheffield, Scunthorpe and Leeds, while still maintaining a strong presence on the Hull Scene. The self titled EP has also gone on to receive regular airplay on BBC Introducing Humberside.

December saw the band return to LOOM Studios to record their second offering, four more tracks, each a unique expression, but each with that unmistakable Audrey sound. Bursting at the seams with energy and character, Afternoon Tea at Audrey’s is set for release Spring 2019.

Following the release, 2019 will see the band continue to play shows across the north of England, perform a live session for BBC Introducing, as well as playing at festivals throughout the summer, having already been confirmed at this years Lakefest in Herefordshire. With plans as well for another acoustic EP later in the year, 2019 is looking to be a big one for the Hull band. Keep your eyes peeled.
