“A modern poetic powerhouse of attitude and sound” SILVI embrace a style of music which breaks down boundaries of what Pop, Indie, Rap or Soul ‘should’ sound like. Combining Jodi Findlay’s soulful unique voice and songwriting with Cameron McLean’s creative, impressive live performance on the drums over an electronic track and sample pad, they arrive at their innovative adaptation of music. With powerful, captivating lyrics, and combined genres, their music gives the listener something fresh to enjoy.
Their debut single, ‘Your Smoke’, was released on the 28th August 2020. “A dark slice of pop with a subtle Scottish serving on the side”. This was featured on BBC Music introducing Scotland and Amazing Radio. Their follow-up single, ‘That’s Not Love’, a dark yet inspiring anti-love ballad, also made its way onto BBC Music introducing Scotland and Amazing Radio, as well as featuring on the Scotify and King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut International Women’s Day Spotify playlists.
SILVI didn’t let lockdowns stifle their creativity and saw them play the virtual festivals Gig in the Goil, The Virtual G, Motherwell Makes Music, Discovery Music’s Gigs in The Gaff and Electric Honey’s Records Live Sessions. SILVI were also the only Scottish act to make it to the final 16 (from thousands of global applicants) in the BANDZAI Battle of The Bands competition in association with Sound City.
In under a year SILVI have managed to make their mark despite having never played an in-person live gig. This is why, almost exactly a year to the day since they began, this debut headline gig at one of Edinburgh’s best live music venues, The Mash House, is one not to miss.
