Another great night at the Red House
Overall rating: 5

This was part of a four weekly series of regular concerts featuring Paul Pearson & friends.
Nick Robinson kicked off proceedings with a 20 minute set of experimental ambient guitar music, though with all the loops & effects it's hard to believe it's all created by guitar, an ethereal film soundtrack without the film!
Paul Pearson elected to go on next as he was feeling a little under the weather & opened with two relatively new songs, the moody "Killing Time In Texas" and upbeat bluesy "Roll The Dice" before playing the familiar singalong "All Roads Lead To You". "No Way To Make A Living", "Black
Eyed Sally", the rarely heard "Used to be my Juliet" and relatively new "On The Ridge" followed, before the Red House anthem "I Had A Dream Last Night" finished off the set.
Peter Rophone followed with his usual variety of material, including a spectacularly slowed down "Ruby Don't Take Your Love To Town", and the haunting original "Stormy Molly", before being joined by Nick Robinson & myself for the stark "Dust Bowl Children". Peter really is one of the best vocalists you will ever see & is well worth checking out.
So I was unexpectedly "promoted" to headline & played Train, Classic Rock Bar, Stone & The Flute (a new song that I still haven't *quite* got right), Farewell to Ireland, 4 Real and The Barrister & The Bargast. I then invited Paul Pearson back up to finish the night off with "Queer", "House of the Rising Sun" and an encore of "Youngstown" with Sue Cain joining us on vocals.
There was a good sized appreciative audience in this small but very friendly pub for a varied selection of acts. We are doing it all again on Sunday 12th February, starting at 8pm, so please come along!
