 Jenzzzz11 Offline Points:22 Posts: 1 | Jenzzzz11's Review of Schofield + McCallum Jazz Orchestra with Beats + Pieces at Mint Lounge Overall rating: The Beats & Pieces Big Band opened the gig with an incredible energy and force, playing original compositions and a very imaginative interpretation of Radiohead's 15 Step. Ben Cottrell (Beats & Pieces Big Band), Anton Hunter (The Noise Upstairs) and Sam Andreae (Freedom Principle) have joined forces to combine their skills in creating www.efpirecords.com providing live gig recordings from their collaborations and ensembles they each are a part of. Beats & Pieces blasted the audience with a wall of sound and proved that Manchester certainly does have a lot of creative and talented young musicians in it's heart. To follow the Schofield + McCallum Jazz Orchestra was just as energic, performing Herbie Hancock and other familiar works. To see the interplay between two of Manchester's greatest guitarists - Mike Walker and Stuart McCallum and sax solos to melt your face off was truly a delight to encounter. Love Polar bear!!! A shame they were not headlining as I thought they would. The set was too short. I will definetely come to see Electric Ladyland in June. Count me in!!! Lucky dragon was really nice and trippy as well. | ||||||||||||||
