Last yr the place was packed to the rafters this yr it was almost empty! There was sound problems in the main room downstairs and the music kept cutting out. I felt really bad for Greg Downey who was playing at the time!! In the end we all got shipped up to the smaller room upstairs which i partly believe was due to the small turnout. The set times were cut, some DJ's didnt play but those who did were fantastic. Having travelled down from Newcastle especially for this night it was very nearly a let down but the final few hours made up for it. Not enough to put me off going back next year but Godskitchen need to sort it out for then!! | ||||||||||||||

Downstairs ended up been closed due to sound problems mmmmmm me finx saving on leccy bill because not a very good turnout meaning all punters slammed into upstairs room even then only just managing to fill the place....but music was top notch and people same,just get them bloody drinks prices lowered!!!!!!!!!!! | ||||||||||||||

Overall rating: I have been to previous Urban Rewind Nights, and it was a great night, the music in the VIP was AWESOME, and in the main room, when people did the formation to Cameo's 'Candy', at Midnight, that was unbeliveable! The main room was a bit cold, but otherwise really enjoyed myself!!! I look forward to another Urban Rewind, as I don't know of any other event that plays 90's Old Skool tunes like that!!! | ||||||||||||||

Jamesbrent Offline Points:10 Posts: 1 | Urban Rewind Overall rating: Saw this on Skiddle and had friends who had been to Urban Rewind on Boxing Day (2008) so thought i would try it. I had a VIP ticket which i was happy i had as i got in quickly, LOVED the VIP room and had my glass of champagne. The music was just as i had hoped...I love my old skool stuff and the icing on the cake was a Funky House room for a bit of variety. The club itself needs better heating and my friends had said the crowd was a little younger than usual but this didnt spoil my fun. Can't wait for the next one! | ||||||||||||||

There were no security controlling the queues, as a lot of people were just making there way to the front of the queue. It was evident that there was a case of double standards as one security guards told a group of boys that they cannot enter the club with trainers. Then afterwards waht I believe to be the head doorman at the queue allowed the boys to enter! I just amazes me that all the staff werent on the same page! Once we had entered we had our bags searched if thats what you call it! My friend had her chewing gums and aerosol breath freshener confiscated which i can understand the aerosol. But, when my bag was searched by a different female security guard. My bag was briefly searched, I had a packet of chewing gum also and my impulse aerosol can. Which hadn't been picked up on whilst my bag had been 'searched'. The changing room smelt unpleasant which was quite off putting along with the price! Further to that the music was pretty good then all of a sudden there were people freely smoking and cigarettes and canabisa and what not. With security freely walking around not even turning a blind eye to what they could see and smell! What then took me by surprise was the bar service. Absolutely terrible! The barman in the funky house room was very selective with the people he served! I waited 30mins before I got served and that was because a group of girls said to serve me because i had been waiting longer than them! My freind must have thinking that something may have happened to me because I had taken that long. Not realising that I had been at the bar the whole time! Once I had then been served my friend had vanished. Just as I thought, I had been that long that she was no longer there. I then as a lat resort had to alert 3-Style in the DJ booth if he would be so kind to send a message out to my friend. He did which I was so grateful for. Then in various rooms the DJs were playing the same tunes some of which were being played from begining to end! The rooms were cod I even saw girls in the toilets with their hands under the dryers because they were so cold. | ||||||||||||||

Some people, including us were waiting there for an hour, just because, other people were acting like such a morons and just came straight to the entry. If the club expects busy time, they should prepare themself a lot better, then your club did. When we finaly got in there, and that was just because we complained about that, we found out, the music is something else, then you said, people are smoking joints inside and security is just walking around and doing nothing. so normal people could not feel even little safe in there. the cherry on a top was when the barman obviously decided to ignore us so we gave up after twenty minutes of trying to get his attention. Basicaly we were in a club for around 30 minutes and we are really not happy because that really was not worthed the money we paid. We would really appreciate if we would get a refund, because it was nothing you said on your website. | ||||||||||||||

Judge Jules needs to retire, his third record was upfront and awesome but it just went totally to pot, as if he were playing to a school disco, disgraceful, does he really not realise that he is playing to a clued up, up for it brummie crowd? i mean olive "your not alone" for fucks sake its 2009, are we asking too much by wanting to hear an upfront underground trance set? i don't think so. The beats were ranging from their styles of minimal techno to funky house and pop house, which I felt, was the perfect concoction to keep me grooving all night. I'll definitely be there if it happens again - hopefully in Ibiza!!! | ||||||||||||||
