The Downward Spiral is a regular rock & metal night held at The Lamp in Hull and this gig was towards the heavier end of the scale.

Openers Fools To Favour kicked off with loads of energy and get better with every gig, there very succesful CD release show a few weeks ago seems to have given them a boost in the confidence and they played a great set.

Mitzi's Revenge where next and one of my favourite bands, punkier than a lot of the metal bands I see (mainly down to their excellent front man and his vocal/stage style) they have an aggressive sound that was prb the 'lightest' of the four bands who played but that didn't stop them creating some carnage in their fans infront of the stage. Great band that never disappoint live.

Dead Harts from Sheffield where main tour support and have just snagged a spot at Download Festival and their 100% committed performance tonight showed why, their singer will do himself a serious injury one day !!! Great energy and aggression - see them LIVE asap.

Headliners Sarah Where Is My Tea are from Russia and mix up more classic thrash metal riffing with modern screamy/aggressive vocals and the most amazing powerhouse drumming. Live they are a lot more aggressive and musically in your face than there recorded material, I enjoyed them so much I bought a t-shirt - says it all I think ;)

gig review

well it was a cracking gig, too many bands to mention individually but highlights for me where Saving Time, Tomorrow We Radio, Incubated & Battallions - it was a long day but very enjoyable :)

Will it might have been cold outside but inside the Lamp the three bands certainly warmed up the crowd.

Openers Young 'n' Hopless are very rough around the edges and lacking a little in stage craft but have some good song ideas and potential to become a really good band with more gigging experience under their belts. Sort of alt rock sounding but with hints of metal they are quite difficult to pidgeonhole.

Middle band where Reverbed from Doncaster, a favourite of the promoter who has brought them to Hull several times and I can see why, energetic pop/punk/rock played extremely tightly for such a young band. The male/female shared vocals work really well and they have a couple of stand out songs that add an extra catchiness. Well worth seeing live.

Headliners Incubated have been a favourite band of mine for quite a while and get better and better, unique sounding alt rock/metal with a much fuller sound than you would imagine from a basic three piece band. The got a great reception from the audience and its about time they started to get the recognition they deserve.

cracking gig, openers Compass stood out a little as they are an acoustic band playing a mix of covers and original material, they are excellent live and starting to build up a good following around Hull.

Hate Mondays brought some 'ullish' pop punk and have massive potential, a band improving with every gig.

On My Honour, an Amercian pop punk band, where so good I bought a CD & T-shirt, great energy and catchy songs and nice guys to boot, well worth catching next time they head back to Europe.

Headliners The Rookie League have gone through many line up changes over the last couple of years but didn't sound like it tonight, like OMH, they had loads of energy and great songs.

All in all a very enjoyable gig and all the bands are worth seeing live

great gig, The Colour Line stole the show with a hight energy set.

excellent gig, headliners Morpheus Rising have really come on since the last time they played Hull a few years ago, great support from Pastel Jack and Ronson Kiplin.

Decent crwod as well, great, enjoyable gig :)

Incubated headlined this gig and showed why they are one of the best metal bands in Hull - hopefully the rest of the town will agree with my views shortly

Incubated steal the show

The gig was awesome from Mitzys revenge opening with some crazy vocals through to the insane guitars and pits of shadows chasing ghosts.I walked into the venue with out knowing much about any of the bands but walked out a fan of Shadows and Glamour they both have an air about them that just blows everyone away and cant wait to see them again. To the doubters who say they dont put the effort in you must have been in the gig with earplugs and blindfolds.

Awesome

Fish was better than ever, his voice was sounding strong and as good as it ever was, even in the "naked" souroundings of an acoustic set. Intimate venue with friendly staff, could do with a paint though!

As ever a very enjoyable evening by fish with a different edge as being accostic. Great set and sounding very good.
