Misty In Roots return to London to play their first show in over five years, at Camden Town's historic Electirc Ballroom.
Misty In Roots are one of the finest and most vital reggae acts the world has seen. A fact amply born out in BBC 6 music’s 2018 music documentary by Don Letts and by their debut album, which is regarded as one of the best live albums of all time - ‘Live At The Counter Eurovision 79’.
Commonly known as John Peel’s favourite reggae band (who they recorded a staggering nine BBC Radio One sessions for), they produced truly uplifting and righteous roots reggae music with vitally important, socially conscious messages.
Originally formed in the mid-1970’s to back reggae star - Nicky Thomas, they went onto create their own, unique, orthodox reggae sound. In the late 1970’s, at a time of great political and social unrest in the UK, and with racism on the raise, Misty In Roots became a major unifying force in the Rock Against Racism movement, playing alongside The Ruts, Elvis Costello, The Specials and Tom Robinson. This built a huge new, multi-cultural audience for them and reggae.
Some six decades on Misty In Roots have a huge global following, and are still regarded as one of the most powerful reggae bands there has been.
