Along the way you come face to face with the Vikings and learn about their Saxon enemies, then meet notorious local figures including Guy Fawkes and Isabella Billington. The show also covers the Black Plague and the fearsome torture chamber, with a format designed to be seen, heard and, in places, smelled.
