The experience also covers the Black Death and the fearsome torture chamber, with live actors, immersive sets and special effects shaping the visit. It is designed as a walk through York’s “orrible history, with the action unfolding scene by scene.

It is a history-based attraction rather than a conventional tour, combining storytelling, performance and effects to present York’s past in a dramatic format.
