York Dungeon Standard Admission at York Dungeon takes you through 2,000 years of York’s darker history. The experience is designed to be seen, heard and smelled as you move through the city’s murky past.

You will meet live actors and encounter immersive sets and special effects as the story moves from the age of the Vikings and their Saxon enemies to some of York’s best-known historical figures.

Among the people and events featured are Guy Fawkes, the local witch Isabella Billington, the black plague and a fearsome torture chamber, with history presented as a theatrical walk-through experience.

Key facts: younger visitors must be aged 5 or over, and the experience is not recommended for under 8s.
