York Dungeon Standard Admission at York Dungeon takes you through 2,000 years of York’s darker history, with live actors, immersive sets and special effects bringing the city’s past to life. The experience moves from the Vikings and their Saxon enemies to some of York’s most notorious figures, including Guy Fawkes and Isabella Billington.

You’ll also encounter scenes set around the black plague and a fearsome torture chamber, with the show designed to be seen, heard and, as the description puts it, smelt. It is a history experience built around storytelling, atmosphere and performance.

The York Dungeon presents the city’s “’orrible history” through a sequence of live scenes and effects.

Before you book

Children must be aged 5 or over. The York Dungeon is not recommended for under 8s.
