York Dungeon Standard Admission at York Dungeon takes you through 2,000 years of York’s darker history. The experience uses live actors, immersive sets and special effects to bring stories from the city’s past to life, with scenes featuring the Vikings, their Saxon enemies, Guy Fawkes, Isabella Billington, the black plague and a torture chamber.

The attraction is designed as a walk through York’s “orrible history”, with the action unfolding around you as you see, hear and smell different parts of the city’s murky past. It is presented as a history-led experience with theatrical effects rather than a conventional museum visit.
