Samuel Phipps

Design & Me

Sam will provide insights into the inner workings of his studio and the methods he employs to effectively manage it. He will share his genuine passion for branding, illustrating how it intertwines with his studio's ethos and influences his creative direction. In addition, Sam will outline his vision of an ideal design studio.

Samuel Phipps is the visionary behind I Am Sam Creative, an independent, family-run Branding and Graphic Design studio based in Cardiff, South Wales, transforming businesses of all sizes through logo design and branding.

John Banfield

Searching for Enlightenment and Inspiration, the Never Ending Journey...

My name is John Banfield, I am an artist and printmaker, based in Swansea, South Wales, I studied at Swansea College of Art, and qualified as a biological and medical artist, following this, I practiced as a medical artist in a prestigious London teaching hospital for a number of years, and taught continous tone techniques, at the London School of Printing.
I changed career, and working for a large national charity; was successfully involved for nearly 40 years in countryside, estate, forestry and woodland management in the South West of England.
I took early retirement and relocated to South West France, where for 10 years, I established a successful business in tree surgery, estate and woodland management.
On my return to Wales, 50 years later I resumed my old passion of printmaking. My drawings are transferred to lino blocks, carved and then printed onto a range of specialised papers, collected from many sources. 
The textures of these papers, compliment the images printed down onto them, my prints are predominantly of natural subjects, with hints of symbolism and imagination, I have a studio in Swansea, where I produce my work.

The event will be held at HQ Urban Kitchen on 37 Orchard Street, Swansea, SA1 5AJ. It's next to the UWTSD ALEX Building.
