Thirsty Work

The Rhodehouse welcomes Thirsty Work for the first time, and they arrive with a back catalogue built for exactly this kind of night. This four-piece deals in the big anthemic rock of the 70s and 80s, the era of songs written to fill a room and lift the roof off it. If you grew up with this music, or you just love a chorus that a whole crowd can throw itself into, these are your people.

What sets them apart is the history in the ranks. Between them the band count ex members of Quill, Alvin Stardust, Glenn Hughes and Pure Instinct. That's decades of proper stage time, records made and toured, and it shows in the way they play. There's a looseness and a confidence you only get from musicians who have done the miles, the sort of band that treats a Friday night crowd like the main event it should be.

They play it loud, warm and with real heart, leaning into the guitar-driven anthems and the singalong moments that made this era of rock stick around. Expect a set that moves, a frontline that knows how to work a room, and a rhythm section that keeps the whole thing driving.
