Brookdale Theatre

Brookdale club and Theatre was formed in 1943 by a group of Air raid wardens during the second world war. Their aim was to create a group of like minded people to form what was initially an amateur operatic group. In 1952 they bought some land and built their own little theatre to put on shows. Since then the club has gone from strength to strength. The building has expanded many-fold, and plenty of additional groups, from bowling to wine, with all activities in between. Today, the Club and Theatre still produce their own productions, whether on stage or back stage. Apart from various rooms that can be hired out externally when not in use, we also have a licence bar. It is a rather unique place and well worth coming down to look at. You may end up joining.
