Love to Dance x Peddler Warehouse: Rahaan

We welcome a true legend of the scene from Chicago to Sheffield - DJ and producer, Rahaan.

Richard 'Rahaan' Young came up in the Southside of Chicago - the city that created House music in the 1980’s. Rahaan was inspired by watching pivotal DJs such as Frankie Knuckles, Lil’ Louis and Ron Hardy. Rahaan sought to carve his own niche in the Chi-town scene by creating his own exclusive tape edits with his crew, The Chuck Brothers.

Three decades later and Rahaan has cemented his status as an internationally renowned DJ, crate digger and producer - from his amazing mixes on the legendary Deep House Page, to his ascension as an authority on rare and underheard Disco, Boogie, Afrobeat, Funk, and House. Rahaan regularly tours across the globe and plays at festivals such as We Out Here, Dekmantel, La Discothèque, and Liverpool Disco Festival.

Rahaan holds an elite status as a producer, editing obscure and classic dance music, as well as composing his own tracks which retain the soulful pulse of Chicago House. These exclusive tracks make appearances during his sets and have been released on prestigious labels such as BBE, Z Records, Hot Biscuit Recordings and Lumberjacks in Hell. 

This is a rare chance to experience a true originator up close. Rahaan is a pivotal figure in preserving and championing the culture of black dance music, and it’s an honour to welcome him to the Steel City. Don’t miss this one!
