Beltane is a Celtic word for festival marking the beginning of summer, also known as May Day. It is traditionally held on 1 May, or about midway between the spring equinox and summer solstice. International Worker's Day / Labour Day also falls on May 1st, which May or May not be a coincidence.
Traditions May include gathering wildflowers and green branches, weaving floral garlands, crowning a May Queen, Maypoles and bonfires.
