About

Alter is an experiment in sacred space.
The current ingredients are:

- A decent sound system in Highfield Trinity Church nave, with selectors encouraged to play the kind of music they might not normally feel able to play on dancefloors.
- An altar in the form of bass sub where people can place any meaningful objects and / or elements from nature.
- Visual experiments using projections / slides / films.
- A check in, 90 minute ish non verbal period, and check out.

You are encouraged to make of this what you will - move, sit, create, do whatever feels good and / or interesting! If it is neither good nor interesting try something different. Creative and participatory experiments are welcome.

Entry £6 / £9 / £12 depending on financial situation. No one turned away for lack of funds.

Aim is for the experiments to mark the Wheel of the Year.

Beltane is a Celtic word for festival marking the beginning of summer, also known as May Day. It is traditionally held on 1 May, or about midway between the spring equinox and summer solstice. International Worker's Day / Labour Day also falls on May 1st, which May or May not be a coincidence.

Traditions May include gathering wildflowers and green branches, weaving floral garlands, crowning a May Queen, Maypoles and bonfires.
