About

‘The year is 1544 and King Henry, the Eighth of that name, is engaged upon Royal Progress about his Realm; and has halted here to afford his Loyal Subjects the opportunity to have 'audience' with their Sovereign Lord and King’.

This one-man, two-act show, has toured extensively across the ‘Realm’, and to the USA. Set in the year 1544, Henry recounts the events of his life and long reign, telling of his wives and of his children. The second Act concludes with a Q&A in which the audience are invited to pose questions on any related topic – a lively Q&A session is assured and there are always surprising answers!

Jack Abbot (‘Henry VIII’) recreates ‘historical characters’ at heritage, educational, and corporate venues across the UK and the USA; and has performed as ‘Henry VIII’ at Windsor Castle on behalf of he Royal Household.

Weather permitting, this event will take place in the Hall's historic courtyard, where woodfired pizza will be available to purchase.   Should the weather not be appropriate, the show will take place in the Great Hall.
