Langtree Sinfonia concert
Music Genres
Classical
Popular local orchestra Langtree Sinfonia will be playing the Lark Ascending, Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake Suite and Resphigi's The Birds at St Mary-le-More in Wallingford on May 18th. The concert has a clear theme of birds, Rephigi's piece presenting brilliant pictures of the lark, cuckoo, nightingale and chicken. Always popular, the solo in Lark Ascending will be played by Steve Nurse, who recently played the solo part in Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade with the Southampton Youth Orchestra, also conducted by Kevin Withell. Steve was leader of the Bristol University Symphony Orchestra when he studied Music and French there. Swan Lake Suite is also very well known and loved, although on this occasion the dancing will have to be imagined.
