Popular local amateur orchestra Langtree Sinfonia will be performing the well loved Elgar Cello Concerto at Dorchester Abbey on 7th June at 7.00 pm. Soloist will be Ellen Baumring-Gledhill, a string finalist in the 2020 Young Musician of the Year competition. Opening the programme will be the cheerful Pirates of Penzance overture, and after the interval there will be the chance to hear Parry's 3rd Symphony. Well known for his composition of 'Jerusalem', he was a prolific composer and created 5 symphonies among many other pieces. His 3rd, 'The English', was completed in 1889, and has many similarities with his successor to the title of leading English composer, Elgar.
