Two years on from its first grassroots music event, Zeytoun Arts Collective returns to World Headquarters with A Cultural Festival for Palestine- a full-venue takeover blending food, film, art, live performance, and dance culture in solidarity with Palestine. World Headquarters will open its doors for WHQ × Zeytoun: Dance for Palestine- a club takeover led by Mr Scruff, Ahadadream, Santa Leticia, and Omar Disku. Both Mr Scruff and Ahadadream have been outspoken advocates for Palestine within the UK’s music scene, using their platforms to amplify solidarity through sound. Supported by Newcastle’s wider network of local music, art, and film collectives, the event channels the city’s creative energy into a shared act of cultural resistance and unity. Founded and led by Omar Ismail, a Palestinian from Gaza, Zeytoun has grown from a small-scale community initiative into one of the North East’s most vital creative movements. Following successful community exhibitions Art for Unity I (2023) and Art for Unity II (2025, hosted at the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art)- and the acclaimed short film Ana Dammi Falastini (recently selected for the 2025 BFI London Film Festival)- this event marks the collective’s next evolution, transforming art and storytelling into tangible action, in a time when it feels most imperative. From 5pm – 9.30pm, the downstairs space hosts Palestinian food, live bands, spoken word, and a panel of community speakers on Art, Resistance & Community, alongside an art auction featuring pieces from the Art for Unity exhibitions and community works created across the past two years. If you can’t join us in person, please consider donating to support the collective and help us raise vital funds for Doctors Without Borders (MSF) and the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF) - two organisations providing lifesaving care on the ground.
