About

With special guest Alex Hutton.

Endorsed Les Harpes Camac, she holds a Master’s degree in Jazz Performance from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and is recognised for her distinctive voice on both harp and vocals. Tara has worked with artists including Björk, ESKA, Stan Sulzmann, Geoff Gascoyne, Emma Rawicz and Alice Zawadski, and has appeared with The Ronnie Scott’s All Stars, Opera North, The Royal Ballet and the Australian World Orchestra.

She leads her own original project as a harpist-vocalist and sings with The Blues and Roots Ensemble, a music education charity promoting improvisation, integration and social change through the music of Charles Mingus, Abdullah Ibrahim and Dorothy Ashby.

Her critically acclaimed debut album Please Do Not Ignore the Mermaid (2020) explores themes of climate change and mer-myth, followed by the intimate duo album Two For The Road (2022) with bassist Ed Babar, produced by Geoff Gascoyne and featuring Stan Sulzmann on tenor saxophone. A finalist in the World Harp Competition 2021, Tara was invited to perform a full recital at the 2022 World Harp Congress in Cardiff.  From classical to jazz, Tara has appeared with the Australian World Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall for the BBC Proms and was a featured artist with 'The Ronnie Scott's All Stars'. Over the last 3 years, Tara has performed at numerous UK and international venues, presenting masterclasses in jazz harp which led to invitations to write new suites of music and collaboration projects.

A passionate educator and advocate for jazz harp, Tara regularly gives workshops and masterclasses in jazz and improvisation at leading music colleges. She is a vocalist and workshop leader and arranger for music charity, "The Blues and Roots Ensemble" directed by Ed Babar.   She also co-hosts The Jazz Podcast with saxophonist Rob Cope, nominated for a Parliamentary Jazz Award in 2022.
