Ascott House venue information
Ascott Estate lies on the borders of the counties of Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire and is predominately owned by the de Rothschild family with the exception of Ascott Park which was donated to the National Trust in 1949.
The 4,400 acre Ascott Estate is comprised of over 3,500 acres of arable land, 300 acres of grassland, 300 acres of woodland and 40 residential letting properties.
Ascott Park, owned by the National Trust, lies in the centre of the privately owned Ascott Estate and includes a grade II* listed property set in 261 acres of formal and informal gardens and parkland, a cricket ground and 14 residential properties.
The principal house, Ascott House, a former hunting box which dates back to the 16th Century was donated to the National Trust in 1949 by Anthony de Rothschild together with the Ascott Collection and remains the countryside residence of the Rothschild family today.
The House and Gardens are open to members of the public between March and September each year. Visitors to Ascott House can gain a unique glimpse at an exceptional collection of paintings, fine furniture and superb oriental porcelain. Traditionally the garden at Ascott has always been one of the property’s best-known features, covering over 30 acres, it is an unusual blend of the formal and the natural.
