The Forum Barrow-in-Furness

Originally refurbished in 1990 the forum was created from a Civic Hall into a multi-functional venue with a middle scale theatre with 529 seats. In the last twenty three years it has played an important role in developing the arts infrastructure that exists in Barrow today. When the council first took responsibility for arts development in 1988 there were no professional artists or arts organisations based in the borough. Today with the support of originally ACE North East and now ACE North West and Cumbria County Council we have a professional theatre company, contemporary dance agency, visual artists and film companies. All of these organisations have national and international links and act as a bridge between our community and 'mainland Britain' and beyond.
