Con'tylia (Glasgow based Greek folk band) present their debut album at one of Glasgow's favourite pubs the Doublet, reunited with Nicky Murray, Glasgow's very own folk songwriter and guitarist.
Nicky Murray
Scottish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Glasgow, known for blending raspy vocals with guitar and cello. Active since 2014, he has released albums including Plenty More Weeping, Wintermore (2018), and How Long (2024), featuring a folk-influenced sound and collaborations with various Scottish musicians.
Con'tylia
The voices of Con'tylia, accompanied by the strings of a Cretan laouto, guitar, hand drums, and clarinet, aim to explore the wonders of Greek folk music, ranging from ambient ballads to Greek mainland and island dances, bringing the storytelling of Greek music to Scotland's stages. Rooted in decades of Greek tradition, Minor Asian scales, and unique rhythms, this five-piece ensemble sings solos, duets, and quartets to create polyphonic vocal harmonies exploring the intricacies of the East Mediterranean region. With their bold arrangements and infectious energy, Con'tylia are carving out a unique place in Glasgow's music scene, one memorable performance at a time. Recently released their debut album "Con'tylia Live Studio Recording"
